#24 of 365 – “velvet”

Autumn lies quietly

            stalking her prey

but Summer is stealthy

            and slips away

October sings the trees

            into a rhythmic trance

they undress

and begin their slow naked dance

the cold weaves her spell

           deep into the winds

and the long velvet nighttime

            of Winter begins
