#36 of 365 – “manacles”

I am enraged

and saddened

by the manacles

of her profession,

by the cowardice

of the men

who hide behind

their aggression

and whittle down

her authority

to little more

than concession.

she came home

with the pain

of humiliation

in her tears,

and with a bludgeoned

love of her work

that has all

but disappeared.

she is brilliant,

and deserves to enjoy

the freedom

of respect,

and to own

the natural power

to command

her intellect.
