#48 of 365 – “riches”

my mother doesn’t have money

or a house of her own

she lives month to month

for the most part, on loan

she has learned though, to keep her value

outside of her purse

a fully owned self-worth

she need not reimburse

I get angry sometimes

that she doesn’t have much

till I’m bathed by the riches

inside of her touch

Blackbird, your Mom is rich indeed to have you in her life. It sounds like she has made her peace with the economic circumstances of her life and embraces the real riches–love given and received.
