#63 of 365 – “where the dreams of children play”

“where the dreams of children play”

I am trying to change my thinking

and let brighter colors in

trying to open up the shadows

to which I am so akin

I miss so much when I can’t see

beyond the darkness that I wear

as echoes of light fall mute and still

beneath my melancholy stare

and my prayers don’t reach the skies

with the heaviness they bear

I yearn to drop the cloak of sorrow

and run into the naked day

and linger in the sunshine

where the dreams of children play
