#83 of 365 – 3 End of Life Haiku

3 End of Life Haiku

“Daddy’s Cigarette”

“Got a light, baby?”

 invisible cigarette

 my father’s death bed

“Bennet”

he whispered, “I’m scared”

I stopped calling after that

AIDS was new back then

“before”

don’t know where she was

eyes soft, her face close to mine

before Granny died
