“curious faith”

it’s hard to mourn

the losses from choices

that I’ve made

hard to feel the death

of expectations crushed

by hopes betrayed

hard to break

beneath depression’s drip

and watch the years degrade

and see possibilities,

like frightened sunshine,

swallowed up by shade.

yet still, my dreams

resist the heavy spell

to simply fade

and though chased

by disappointment, they

continue to evade

and live inside

this curious faith

no sum of life can dissuade

  1. Beautiful. I just had to comment. I love the pull between the adjectives and the subjects they are describing. You have an ability to convey ideas truer to themselves than most.
