#104 of 365 – “blues joint”

“blues joint”

worried notes and liquor

time to stomp the floor

take your defenses off the trigger

leave your daytimes at the door

grab the hand that’s near you

feel the love and pain exposed

hear the breath of bone deep rescue

in the grit and tears composed

this truth is no small vestige

there are no airs to confuse

just a place to warm and rummage

through the freedom of the blues

You just keep getting better and better! “blues joint” is sooo worthy of inclusion in ANY anthology of the best poems of the 21st century. The way you employ rhyme and half-rhymes blows me away, Merle. — Ron —

Thank you Ron…that makes me feel really good that you consider it so worthy. Music is a powerful muse!
