#121 of 365 – “threads”

I’m trying to protect this cord of light

from being shred down to a fiber

trying to stay the release of darkness

from behind this scant divider

but she is sneaky and persistent

and not fond of being alone

and she doesn’t take too kindly

to being pushed out on her own

she hacks the threads of clarity

that free me from her thrall

knowing that when they come apart

I’ll reach for her to break my fall

only to find myself again

inside her black and heavy pall

All of life testifies to this truth — Light trumps Darkness. Your poetry bears witness to this in a marvelous way. I’m not a prophet or the son of a prophet but I DO know that your poems help you make sense of life and help others as well. Without you, there would be a “Merle-shaped void” in the Universe. 😛
