#133 of 365 – “maybe”

“maybe”

maybe I’ll practice Voodoo

to find out where I belong

maybe I’ll fall back into the vices

and idol worship of Babylon

maybe Jesus will come and save my soul

and take me to the river

maybe I’ll follow the Buddha

until I’m enlightened and delivered

maybe Yahweh will show me

the secrets to life

maybe Allah will intervene

and lift me up from my strife

maybe I’ll read some leaves of tea

and divine a new way of being

maybe a Wiccan spell will give me

a new way of seeing

maybe a sweat lodge will draw

me deep into the heart of community

and maybe the Brahman will find

inside of me some final unity

but most likely, the answers I seek

are somewhere deep inside of me

Or maybe you won’t waste your time with any of these and will just keep writing and finding yourself in your poetry! Ah hah! Though clever, charming, and catchy, the verses above aren’t where you’ll find the answers you seek. We both know that.
