7 Haiku about our road trip

packing; “Got your shirt?”

“Yes.” “Are you sure?” “Yes.”  “Sure?!”  “Yes!”

unpacking―no shirt

road trip; I just drive,

boy just sleeps, girl just talks, spouse

just wants to get there

truck stop―eats and store

nice people; sign on the door

“no slack pants allowed!”

stall door, weird lock, dim

lights, dirty; definitely

not going to sit down

old man, rail skinny

scraggly hair, no teeth; hard to

tell he was smiling

charred house on a hill

driving by, passing someone’s

burned up memories

our daughter talked long

past our listening; waaaayyyy too

much espresso cake!

Nice! “rail skinny” paints the picture for me…have been sick all day…still am…fever, achey in my bones…spent most of the day in bed…very afraid I may have the flu…didn’t get the flu shot…too damn stubborn…going back to bed now…hope the road trip goes well.
