#187 of 365 – 3 Haiku about 3 massages

3 Haiku about 3 massages

“quadriplegic”

head shaved to feel more

his still body an echo

of his life before

her sandpaper skin

so grateful for massage; touch

no sebaceous glands

he died; she gardened

too busy to cry, until

her hands were massaged

I’ve heard about that happening–where someone stuffed grief down, didn’t cry, and then one day they had a massage or their hair done–something involving acceptable touching–and the dam burst, healing began. So, I love the 3rd one best.

Wonderful! I just don’t know enough to really understand and appreciate the second haiku. The first one is good, but I agree with Starralee that the third one is my favorite. It’s pretty much everything a haiku should be!! It touched me “where I live” and I’ll be thinking about this haiku for quite some time.

Thanks Ron! I changed the 2nd one to what I had originally…think it’s at least clearer now. 🙂

Ahhh! Now I see. It was perfectly obvious all the time but I just refused to see! Sheesh!
Really nice work, Merle. You have an easy facility with haiku which is just going to get better and better! Hope I’m around to see it. *smile*
