#223 of 365 – “distances”

 “distances”

I am tired,

fatigued

by the distances

we cross,

afraid

that what we have

can’t overcome

the things

we’ve lost.

I worry

that our travels

are too perilous

to survive,

or that we’ll

walk in silence,

starving

with little left

to thrive.

I hope

tomorrow

brings

a comfort

that our troubles

can’t dismay,

and that

our future

has a memory

of a kinder

today.

Lovely wistful hope folded into the satin of melancholy–fine work, as always.
