#243 of 365 – 5 Haiku about my father…and things

5 Haiku my father…and things

shadow so heavy

it frightened me from my sleep

dreams of the unknown

no clear memory

marks my path from three years old

when something happened

lungs and spirit crushed

life became darkness and fear

in my father’s arms

I throw stones deep in

the lake of my past, and wait

to feel the ripples

is Daddy sorry

now that I’ve made my mantle

home to his ashes?

I can’t remember

but only feel what happened

but, is that enough?

What a burden you must be bearing………I’m so sorry I have no magic words to help you deal with the pain…..

This was too familiar, as it was age 3 or 4 for me also–and my father was presumed drowned by the time I was 5. “No clear memory marks my path”–that’s the way I’ve lived.
