#277 of 365 – “children of the same mother”

 “children of the same mother”

am I more people

than can be remembered

is there karma stuck to me

that still must be tendered

am I walking the same paths

I’ve traveled before

swearing the same oaths

I already swore

was I a soldier, dead on the battlefield,

a sword thrust into my heart

was I a monk who followed the Buddha

or a student of the black arts

was I master over many or a mistress

who’d lost her mind

or was I born deep into slavery, a prisoner

for life, confined

are there past and future lives we live

one right after another

or do they happen simultaneously,

all like children of the same mother

or is it possible we have just one breath here

and there’ll simply be no other…?
