#292 of 365 – “shrapnel”

 “shrapnel”

her tears,

a dark rain

of shattered bone

and splintered

breath,

where love

immutable,

weighs heavy

like stone,

breaking down

her shelter

as if some

storm

has begun,

as she stands

vulnerable

to the flying

shrapnel

of parenting

a teenaged

son
