#333 of 365 – “borders”

 “borders”

I never cared much

for borders

till evil plotted its course

and the only thing

between it and me

were the borders we enforce

I never cared much

for countries

even my own

until my homeland

was on fire set by

enemies then unknown

I never cared much

for prayers

while seduced by my youth

but now the years

have passed me

reducing apathy to truth

that we may be

one consciousness in an ether

only death can help us reach

but while we’re here

our earthly walls

feel almost impossible to breach

and the lessons

God has for us, we make

almost impossible to teach
