About Blackbird

I had a bunch of stuff here – but I erased it.

For 365 days I posted every night at 11:59 pm .   I wanted to do it to see if I actually could, so that I wouldn’t write one poem a year that I thought was good and hold onto it for dear life out of fear that I’d never write anything else.  Wanted to write it, post it, let it go, and write another.  It was hard as sh#t, one of the hardest things I’ve ever done…I feel great that I did it, but I sure as hell ain’t doin’ that again!  Now, I post whenever I write something that doesn’t make me cringe when I think of other people reading it.  So…there you go…and my name, Merle, means blackbird in French.

Lots more, but ain’t nobody got time for that!

Very intriguing. Love the somewhat spooky background photo.

Thank you…believe it or not, this is a photo of an alley in Washington DC in the neighborhood I grew up in. Loved this alley!…rode my bike through there an infinite number of times. Appreciate your comment Starralee!

As I’m sure you have too, I visit tons of blogs–and there aren’t all that many which stand out as unique in appearance, and then have great writing too. And just so you know, I don’t hand out cheap flattery–I either really like someone’s work/blog, or I don’t come back. Time and energy are in short supply.

I had to come back to reread the meaning of blackbird (I have a colander brain, mostly useless–except that at least I remembered where you were). I’m trying to come up with my About page–they didn’t use to be so difficult; yours is great.

Thanks Starralee..yeah, this one went through several mutations. There are some good long ones out there…but mine ended up feeling like a desperate plea to be liked (not that there’s anything wrong with wanting to be liked or even asking for it for that matter)…but it just felt like I was jumping up and down flailing my arms in a big chicken suit…so I erased it!

Good luck…I’m sure yours will be well worth reading! Looking forward to it….

Hi. I’m not sure what your policy is on awards, but I think you deserve the recognition so I’ve nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award!
There is no pressure to accept, participate, or follow the rules exactly.
If you are interested, you can check it out here: http://frommaybetoalmost.com/2014/08/20/the-very-inspiring-blogger-award/

Wow…thanks so much Ryn! I’ve never been nominated for anything. Really appreciate the encouragement and compliments…but I can barely keep up with getting a poem out a day, kids, job, kung fu, sculpting…bla bla bla…can’t even finish writing this… 😉
Thanks for reading and commenting…always very much appreciated!

Just letting you know I didn’t forget about you, kept you in my nightly prayers–and now I’m back, renewed. xo
